FOR RESIDENTS

A resident guide to responsible reporting

Learn how to report responsibly, protect personal information and interpret the resulting record.

Report what you can observe

Use a clear description and the closest issue category. Avoid accusations, unnecessary personal information and images of people when the civic issue can be shown without them.

Keep evidence safe

Do not enter traffic, unsafe structures, flood water, active work sites or conflict situations to capture evidence. A report is never worth increasing immediate risk.

Understand visibility

Submission does not automatically make a complaint public. Public visibility is a separate, reviewed and privacy-processed decision, and some categories are never eligible for ordinary publication.

Follow the record

Keep the complaint reference, review messages and status history, and respond through the application when more information or resolution feedback is requested.
